Years ago, a talented singer met another talented Writer/Lyricist/Coffee Maker. These young men spent many years working hard and developing their craft.
One day they realized that all their years of dedication and devotion had brought to them adoring fans and financial fortunes. Yes, we too are big fans of Simon and What's- his- face but, that is their story not ours.
We are Chicken House Purple.
Upon declaring ourselves Chicken House Purple, we were immediately contacted by the Bureau of Musical Identity Compliance (BMIC), which informed us that our band name had been flagged for “potential poultry‑related ambiguity.” We were instructed to appear for a formal review.
The review panel consisted of:
One auditor
One assistant auditor
One chicken (non‑voting)
One man who claimed to be an auditor but later admitted he had simply wandered in
We were asked to provide documentation proving:
We were, in fact, a band
We were not Simon
We were not Whats‑his‑face
We had no intention of becoming Simon or What's‑his‑face in the foreseeable future
After a brief recess (three hours), the panel returned with Form 441‑P: Declaration of Non‑Legendary Status, which required signatures, fingerprints, and a short poem explaining our artistic mission. We submitted the poem. It was rejected for “insufficient compliance with Section 12: Rhyming.”
Meanwhile, our fanbase triggered several federal alerts. The Department of Public Enthusiasm opened an investigation into “unregulated admiration,” while the Office of Miscellaneous Concerns issued a memo stating that our monthly potato mailings had reached “a level of agricultural significance.”
We were then informed that, due to a clerical error, Chicken House Purple had been temporarily classified as a federal agency. During this period, we were required to:
Hold weekly staff meetings
File quarterly reports on “musical output and poultry adjacency”
Respond to citizen complaints, including one alleging that our music caused a toaster to develop “an attitude”
We attempted to correct the error, but the paperwork to stop being a federal agency was significantly more complicated than the paperwork to become one. At one point, we were advised to simply “ride it out.”
Eventually, after months of hearings, audits, and one mandatory seminar titled Band Names: A Regulatory Overview, the government officially recognized Chicken House Purple as a musical group, provided we agreed to annual inspections and refrained from “any activities that could reasonably be interpreted as legendary.”
We signed the agreement. All 72 pages.
And so our story continues—methodically, bureaucratically, and with the quiet determination of a chicken who has successfully navigated federal oversight and remains purple by choice, not by mandate.
We are Chicken House Purple. All forms have been filed. Compliance remains ongoing.

CHP's Frontman is Joe Reeves. Joes' voice was once described as tolerable.
Behind the scenes is Brett (Baby Leg) LaBlue and what he is actually doing behind the scenes has yet to be determined.
Anyway, Joe hopes that you enjoy the Chicken House Purple song, Hobo Joe and we know, if he was sober, Baby Leg would too!
